Grasshopper tennis has smaller nets, racquets and softer balls to help developing players aged 5 – 9 years learn techniques with more ease. It also helps with the teaching of the game and court rules of tennis. The club will provide the grasshopper equipment which includes specialized racquets, balls and nets.

Due to our ever increasing number of members we are introducing extra club days and times. This will make the attendance groups smaller so the coaches can work more closely with each player for improved coaching and interaction. The coaches are there to focus on technique and skill. They make it as enjoyable as possible but to get the best out of the game your children need to do the work also and not just play games. We encourage parents to join the club also, so they can obtain a court key so the family can come up and practice and play games outside of club days and times.

Gorana Marsic is our Head Club Coach and she will be supported by her assistant Filip Jovicic. Parent help is always encouraged and welcomed. There is a community coaching course available for parents who wish to learn more about assisting the coaches. You will always have guidance from Gorana but it could help with your confidence. The club would be happy to send you on the next available course and in return we ask you be a parent helper on your children’s club day.

Juniors have the opportunity to be part of the Auckland Interclub Competitions (pre & post Christmas) and the Club Championship competitions.
